Our school is a closed campus. All visitors and volunteers must report directly to the main office to sign in. Students should not invite friends to visit the school. Individuals found on school property who do not have legitimate business with the school and have not registered in the main office may be charged with trespass.
Accidents
The details of any accident are to be reported immediately, either to a teacher or to the Main Office for appropriate documentation and/or communication.
Student Searches
If school safety and security are a concern, the administration has the right to conduct searches of student lockers, student property, or personal belongings at any time.
School Resource Officer
The role of the Resource Officer is to provide guidance and act as a legal resource for teachers, students, parents/guardians and the community at large. Part of this role is to encourage communication and greater understanding among young people and the Calgary Police Service.
School Property
We take great pride in keeping a tidy school, both inside and out. We ask all our students to be good citizens by putting garbage and recycling where it belongs, and helping to keep our classrooms and school grounds clean.
Restricted Activities
- Skateboarding, longboarding and throwing snowballs are not permitted on school property.
- Smoking, the use of tobacco products or substitutes inside the school or on school property, is prohibited.
Lockdowns
All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.
Evacuation Procedures
In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.
Video Surveillance Technology
The Calgary Board of Education may install and use video surveillance technology where it enhances safety of students, staff, or others, or deters damage to CBE property or assets; where circumstances have shown that it is necessary for these purposes, and its benefits outweigh the impact on the privacy of those affected. Privacy law, specifically, the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA) requires that CBE demonstrate that the proposed installation and use of video surveillance technology (VST) is necessary to resolve pressing and substantial business interests (based on evidence of verifiable and identifiable issues). VST is considered a complement to, and not a replacement for, CBE's strategies in supporting a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful learning and work environment for students and staff. Approval, installation and use of video surveillance technology will comply with Administrative Regulation 1066.
For questions or concerns, please contact the school principal.
