Technology Use & Digital Citizenship at CBe-learn
Technology is an essential part of learning at CBe-learn. As a predominantly online school serving students in Grades 1–12, we use digital tools to support personalized learning, communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.
We are committed to helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and habits necessary to participate safely, ethically, and positively in digital learning environments.
Balanced, Responsible, Respectful
Our Digital Citizenship Plan (2026–2027) focuses on three key areas:
- Balanced: Developing healthy technology habits that support students' mental, emotional, and physical well-being, including a positive balance between online and offline activities.
- Responsible: Using technology appropriately and ethically, demonstrating academic integrity, respecting copyright, protecting personal information, and making informed decisions about digital tools, including artificial intelligence.
- Respectful: Communicating with kindness, empathy, and inclusion, recognizing diverse viewpoints, and contributing positively to online learning communities.
These principles guide our expectations for students across all CBe-learn courses, activities, and digital learning environments.
Admirable Use Policy
All students and families are expected to review and follow the CBe-learn Admirable Use Policy.
This policy outlines expectations for the appropriate use of school-owned technology, online learning environments, digital applications, and CBE electronic resources.
It includes guidance about:
- Appropriate and responsible technology use.
- Account security and protection of personal information.
- Respectful digital communication and interactions.
- Academic honesty, copyright, and acknowledging sources, including AI-assisted content.
- Respect for school technology and the digital work of others.
- Examples of inappropriate technology use and potential consequences.

Our Shared Responsibility
Students, families, and staff all play an important role in fostering positive digital citizenship.
Students are expected to follow school and CBE expectations when using technology for learning. Families are encouraged to review these expectations with their children and support healthy, responsible technology habits at home.
Our goal is to build a safe, inclusive, and supportive digital learning community where students can learn, connect, and succeed.

Digital Citizenship at the CBE
Digital citizenship is about using technology and participating in digital environments. It is key to helping our students learn to use available technology responsibly in the classroom and beyond. Our school has a Digital Citizenship Plan that is updated annually, addressing how we work to build a community where we live and work together as digital citizens.
Visit the CBE website to learn more about how we support students to develop online safety skills and be good digital citizens.
Personal Mobile Devices
Student personal mobile devices are limited or restricted at all schools, unless required for health or medical needs, to support specialized learning needs, and for educational purposes. Learn more about our BYOD (bring your own device) rules.
Web Filtering & Social Media
Inappropriate or unsafe content may be blocked to provide a safe environment: some content is blocked for all users, and other content may be suitable for older students but not for younger ones. Student access to known social media platforms is blocked on school networks and school devices for all grade levels.
