Students new to CBE must first register for their Regular Program school, through School Engage: https://schoolengage.cbe.ab.ca.

Requesting a Transfer to CBe-learn from Another CBE School
Grade 1-9 Students  | Grade 10-12 Students  | 
1. Take the Online Learning Self/Family Assessment Survey to determine the appropriateness of the program. 2. Follow all instructions on the ECS to Grade 9 Transfer Request Form. Kindly send the completed transfer form to cbelearn@cbe.ab.ca 3. CBe-learn will contact families with additional transfer information.  | 1. Familiarize yourself with the high school pages and programming details available on our website. 3. Prior to Sept 30th, complete the Unique Settings Transfer Request Form and submit it to the administration at your current school. After Sept 30th, students are not eligible to transfer unless there are exceptional medical circumstances. Please consult with the administration at your school in this case. 4.  If a transfer is not approved, the student will remain registered at their designated CBE school.   | 
Grade 9 Students - moving to Grade 10:
Requesting a Transfer to another CBE School from CBe-learn
If you are choosing to transition to a traditional in-person High School:
- Use the Find A School Tool to confirm regular program school.
 - Communicate your wishes to CBe-learn by completing this form: https://forms.office.com/r/WtW8BLyC4e
 - Submit a transfer request between February 1 and March 15.
 - If a transfer is not approved by the CBE, the student will remain registered at CBe-learn.
 
If you are choosing to remain with CBe-learn:
- Communicate your wishes to CBe-learn by completing this form: https://forms.office.com/r/WtW8BLyC4e
 - No additional action is required.
 - The student will automatically be placed into Grade 10 at CBe-learn.
 
Eligibility and Registration / Transfer Instructions
Only resident CBE students are eligible for full-time online learning with CBe-learn.  A resident CBE student is a student where at least one parent/legal guardian (or the independent student) physically resides within the geographical boundary of CBE, and at least one parent/legal guardian (or the independent student) is not of the Roman Catholic faith. Regardless of living or parenting arrangements, parents/legal guardians must only identify one primary address, which must be within the geographical boundary of CBE. To determine if you live within the CBE boundary, go to the CBE Find a School Tool and type in your address. If any school name appears, you are within our boundaries. If no school name appears, you are outside the boundary of the CBE and not eligible for CBe-learn.
International students are not eligible to attend full-time studies at CBE-learn.
Current CBe-learn Full-Time Online Students
Continuing at CBe-learn
- Parents/Guardians are encouraged to complete the Online Learning Self / Family Assessment Survey to help guide registration decisions. No action is required for those who wish to continue at CBe-learn.
 - Course selection parents/guardians for current grades 9, 10 and 11 will be communicated to students and parents/guardians in the spring.
 
Transferring to In-Person Learning, from CBe-learn
Grade 1-9 Students  | Grade 10-12 Students  | 
1. Use the Find A School Tool to confirm regular program school. 2. Follow all instructions on the ECS to Grade 9 Transfer Request Form.* 3. Email the completed form to cbelearn@cbe.ab.ca. Signed forms will be returned to parents so that they can be taken to the requested school. 4. Requested school confirms registration with parents/guardians.     | 1. Use the Find A School Tool to confirm the regular program designated school.  2. Communicate your wishes to return to your designated high school to CBe-learn administration. 3. Contact the administration at your in-person designated high school to determine if a transfer is possible. 4. If a transfer is not approved by the CBE, the student will remain registered at CBe-learn.  | 
Please note: Deciding to transfer to CBe-learn is a full school-year commitment. CBe-learn transfers are not designed to allow for transitions back to in-person learning until the full online school year is complete.
Are transfer requests still accepted after the submission deadline?
After September 30th, CBe-learn does not accept further requests, except for:
- Documented medical conditions requiring online learning in the regular program (Please discuss this with your current CBE school).
 - Returning Grade 12 students (i.e. fourth-year high school students) needing to finish additional courses or upgrade.
 - In specific circumstances, high school students may be able to transfer in or out of CBe-learn for the next school year after the Spring Transfer Window has closed (March 15th deadline). Please connect with your school administration to make this request.
